Just like any other obstacle in life, there are ways to overcome paralysis analysis. I am not saying that it will never happen again, but with a plan and discipline you can limit the amount of time you overthink everything.
3 ways to overcome paralysis analysis
Brain dump your ideas: Taking the time to write down what’s in your head onto paper, or type into your phone, free your mind of trying to remember everything. Having a brain dumping session at the beginning of your day helps you visualize everything you would like to complete for the day or week.
Top 3 Method: If you follow @erinondemad on instagram and youtube then you know exactly what I am talking about. If you don’t that’s totally fine! The “Top 3 Method” is a great way to mark off tasks from your planner. You choose 3 tasks each day that need to be done by the end of the day. If you have more time in your day to complete another task then you can choose another task that you would like to to work on.
It is important to note that one of your task may need to be broken down into individual tasks. If that is the case, those other tasks would be considered your top 3 tasks for the day.
Ex. I need to clean my house
Wash and dry 2 loads of laundry
I need to fold 2 loads of laundry
I need to put up 2 loads of laundry
Even though you needed to clean your house this goal needed to be broken down into simpler tasks. This may seem silly, but if you work in bite size pieces this will help eliminate the overwhelming feeling of cleaning your house.
Create a Routine: Having a routine is nice to have because you do not have to come up with the next thing you plan to do, it becomes instinctive.
Ex. Meal Prepping
Eliminates buying fast food
Spend less time on what you want to eat
Saves you money
Spend more time relaxing on your lunch break.
These were the few benefits of meal prepping, but not having to think about what you’re going to eat at every meal helps your brain spend more time thinking about your top 3 task you would like to complete for the day.
