The beginning of 2020,
I had posted a picture on Instagram saying, “You can’t have Change and Comfort Simultaneously" and my caption was “Motto for 2020.” Little did I know that there would soon be a global pandemic happening a few months later. Not only did we witness a global pandemic there was racial injustice, rioting, protest, a corrupt president, unemployment, Kanye for 2020. Basically, this list could go on and that is just events happening in America. So I can only imagine the amount of uncertainty everyone around the world was going through.
The funny thing is in the midst of a pandemic, I was actually living my best life in the confines of my home.
I have been praying to God to help me heal from past hurts, some time to work on me, a break from everything around me, and to be able to work from home. Now when I put my request in I did not expect all these events to happen. But I am grateful to have this time to grow and learn who I am and whose I am. I spent this time carefully to ensure that I did not waste not one second on becoming the girl I knew I could become.
During this time I worked on building a strong solid foundation with my relationship with God. This was always something that I wrote on my new year's resolutions, but I never stuck to this goal. This time I made sure to make our relationship my main priority and let me tell you my faith has grown expeditiously *in T.I.’s voice*. This was a complete game changer and rearranged my whole mindset. I no longer let my insecurities and past control my life (disclaimer: this did not happen overnight.) I said enough was enough and I trusted God to lead my steps. That is where all my business ideas began flourishing, to the point I got overwhelmed by all my thoughts.
Fast forward to 2021 and your girl is ready to live life to the fullest, even though COVID-19 is still hanging around. I told God that I was done hiding and that I am ready to be used for his glory. To be honest I really do not know what that will translate to in the future, but just know I am excited for what he is about to do in my life. If you want to see a difference in your life let go of the fear and just do it, even if you have to do it scared it better to say that you started than beating yourself up for never starting.
A Few Reason Why You May Be Stagnant:
You Chose Comfort Over Change
The security of routine is our comfort zone. When you choose comfort, you leave no room for change. When you choose to go another day, week, month, or year in comfort, life has a way at becoming irritating. There is so much greatness bottled up inside of you. Let those ideas flow from you freely and have fun living life knowing you chose change over comfort.
You Fear of Making a Mistake
Those made-up scenarios in your head are keeping you from being able to focus on the goal. Mistakes have such a negative connotation attached to it, but mistakes are the best thing to ever happen to you. Replace the word 'mistakes' with 'lessons'. Without those errors, you would not see the changes that could be made to simplify a solution. Mistakes, better yet, lessons keep you on your toes. We're not superhuman, we are not supposed to know everything. Chuck up your losses and count them as lessons.
You have a Defeated Mindset
Your negative mindset disqualified you before you even tried. Stop letting your insecurities control your life! Nobody likes a Negative Nancy. Being around negative people is draining. So why would you want to listen to yourself! Change the way you think about yourself and be amazed at the new perspective you gain on life.
You Lost Sight of the Vision
When there is confusion there is no clarity. Remember your 'Why' and take the necessary steps to get back on track. Your old way of doing things may not work in the next season of your life. It's great to have a plan, but there comes a time when your plan is not helping, but harming you. Like a business, there comes a time when they have to re-evaluate their business plan. Assess on what is and is not working in your life and make the necessary changes. When you are clear on your vision, it will show in your work, the way you treat others, and how you take care of yourself.
